 1st Annual Compost Poetry Contest

Thank you to all the students who submitted poems about compost! We recieved 97 entries from 17 different schools in CVSWMD member towns!

Grades K-2
Winner: Zoe Barbero Menzel - Grade 1, Union Elementary School
Runner Up: Hunter Covey - Grade 1, Williamstown Elementary School

Grades 3-5
Winner: Sam Murray - Grade 4, Union Elementary School
Runner Up: Nadia Scoppettone - Grade 4, Union Elementary School

Grades 6-8
Winner: Eathan Pike - Grade 6, Williamstown Middle/High School
Runner Up: Joe Reese - Grade 6, Barre City Elementary & Middle School

 Grades 9-12
 Winner: Conner Renee LaFromboise - Grade 11, Chelsea Public School
 Runner Up: Shaniah Bartlett- Grade 9, Montpelier High School

Eligibility
  • To be eligible for this contest, students must live in a CVSWMD member town.
  • Contest is open to all students in grades K-12.
Guidelines
  • Each student may enter one poem each and should not exceed 1 page
  • Poems must be the original work of the student written about compost/composting
  • Poems must be typed or printed legibly
  • The student’s name, grade, school, town of residence, t-shirt size and contact information (include parent/guardian contact info) on the same page as the poem
  • Poem will not be returned; students should not send their only copies
  • Poems must be postmarked/received (emails) by 5PM on April, 8 2011
