Recycling Depot Plan: What does it mean to your community?

Please Note: The CVSWMD Board of Supervisors has put its Recycling Depot Plan on hold while it engages a consultant to study the best means of materials capture and diversion from landfills. The CVSWMD continues to operate and support its 9 recycling depots during this time, but has put all major improvements or changes to these facilities on hold until the completion of the planning process. A consultant is expected to be under contract in March 2007, and the planning process is expected to last at least 6 months. Updates will be available on our Web site. Equity of Services Project

The CVSWMD has been working to develop what we call the Equity of Services Project, or our Recycling Depot Plan. The purpose of the project is to increase the opportunities to reuse and recycle household materials in our member communities. “Equity of Services” means that all communities will have the same benefits of District membership as all other member towns, and that residents are entitled to equal access to District programs and services.

Where We Are Now.

The District currently runs six recycling depots and financially supports another three depots in member towns that the towns own/operate. While residents with easy access to these facilities have been served well over the years, other communities have not had access to the same services. Here’s where the need for equity of services comes in.

Appliances Tires Metals
Appliances, tires, and metals are all recycled at the CVSWMD recycling depots.
