Lawn and Garden Care
A little spray here, a little spray there-it's OK though, it only harms the bugs, right? Wrong! Pesticides are the broad category of chemical pest exterminators that include herbicides, fungicides, and rodenticides. Basically, these chemicals are designed to kill unwanted bugs, rodents, weeds, and fungi. But their impact doesn't stop there. They can harm wildlife, kill native vegetation, impact ground and surface water quality, and some have been linked to increases in human cancers and auto-immune system damage.
There are many resources for growing safe gardens and lawns. Organic gardening books and magazines have all kinds of tips for keeping away unwanted pests and attracting beneficial insects that aid garden health. Not all bugs are "bad bugs," but pesticides don't know that!
