Storing Hazardous Waste
Reducing the quantity of hazardous products in the home is the first step for health and safety. District household hazardous waste collections are a great way to clean out the garage, shed and basement of toxic products you don't use any longer, as well as those that came with the house! But once you properly dispose of all of those, you might have some oil-based paint you want to keep for a project or polyurethane to touch up the window trim next spring.
The article Hazardous Waste Storage Tips should help answer some of your questions. It also offers some general safety guidelines for storing items during the winter months when the District's hazardous waste collection facility is closed. Please contact the District for answers to specific questions.
