Central Vermont has long needed a permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility. The map to the right shows existing HHW facilities in the state - the yellow dot marks our upcoming facility location.
The State of Vermont has provided a generous grant to the District to build a facility that will provide convenient and safe hazardous waste collection service year-round. This facility is being built in anticipation of Vermont's new HHW Extended Producer Responsibility program, which will require the manufacturers of hazardous products to help cover the costs of recycling them. This legislation is intended to reduce the burden of the cost of disposal to Vermont residents and municipalities, and will ensure that these materials are properly disposed of. Please visit the Department of Environmental Conservation's Product Stewardship page to learn more. We will still continue to host Hazardous Waste Collections in our remote District towns. |
Starting in August- At One Location
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) FacilityWe anticipate starting operations in August! Check here for updates!
Our State-certified HHW collection center will accept drop-offs three days a week and the collected HHW will be regularly shipped out for processing. Trained staff, state-of-the-art equipment and stringent protocols will ensure optimal safety and operations.

ARCC (Special Recyclables) FacilityCVSWMD will continue to accept hard-to-recycle items when we relocate and are folded into the Eco Depot name.
