Christmas Trees and WreathsARCCBring artificial trees and wreaths at are at least 50% metal, metal tree stands, and holiday string lights to the ARCC.
RecyclingPlastic tree stands with all metal parts removed. (Bring metal screws/bolts/legs to the ARCC or a transfer station that accepts metal, don’t put in regular recycling.)
Real Trees & Wreaths![]() After removing decorations and tinsel, real trees and wreaths are considered “clean wood” and can go to any clean wood disposal site in the state. Learn more about clean wood disposal here.
Important Reminder: Please remove all tinsel, lights, ornaments, and any foreign material from the tree before recycling it. FREE String Light Recycling at the ARCC!![]() Drop holiday lights off at the Additional Recyclables Collection Center at 540 North Main Street in Barre, FREE, during January!

GiftsRecyclingUncoated wrapping paper (no tape), uncoated paper gift bags, cardboard tubes, plain tissue paper.
TrashWrapping paper with glitter, foil, metallic print, Mylar, or shiny coatings. Plastic gift bags (or save for reuse!). Cellophane, tape dispensers, tissue paper with glitter, sparkles or foil. Ribbons and bows (or remove and save for reuse!).
Important Reminder: Please do not burn wrapping paper, as it has dyes and coatings that could release toxins. Put any non-recyclable wrapping paper in the trash if it cannot be reused! |
ShoppingNexTrex Plastic Recycling Drop-Off SitesPlastic only mailers, bubble wrap, packing pillows, #2 and #4 plastic bags and stretchy film.
RecyclingPaper receipts, paper bags, plain paper packing, cardboard and boxboard (flattened), clear plastic blister packs (separate from paper and place both in bin).
TrashPaper mailers lined with with bubble wrap, gift cards, styrofoam, packing peanuts, foam packing, non-stretchy plastic bags.

RecyclingGlass bottles, plastic soda and water bottles (leave plastic caps attached), eggnog jugs (no cartons), aluminum cans and foil (form foil into 2” ball), cardboard and boxboard packaging.
