School Zero Waste Program

Our school program helps schools identify and reduce the amount of waste they generate. We provide educational opportunities, tools, resources, and highly skilled staff support!
CVSWMD Free Services to Schools

Why Should Schools Work Toward Zero Waste?
  • Save money by cutting out disposables and reducing hauling rates
  • Lengthen the lifespan of Vermont's only landfill, by reducing trash waste
  • Educate students on the importance of conserving natural resources and the life cycle of the 'stuff" we create in our lives
  • Bring product stewardship and mindfulness to students as present and future consumers
  • Promote creative solutions to real-world problems
  • When treated properly, food scraps generate an important natural resource: compost
  • Students learn to take responsibility for their actions and the choices they make in their lives.

For more information on our School Zero Waste Program, contact John Jose, School Zero Waste Coordinator, at johnj@cvswmd.org or 802-229-9383, Ext 111.
