Why Should Your School Engage CVSWMD School Zero Waste Programming?
  • On a basic level, to be in compliance with Act 148, Vermont's Universal Recycling Law, including having and maintaining schoolwide food scrap disposal and  "blue bin" recycling systems.
  • In the face of many, serious environmental challenges facing our world today, provide students with the opportunity to make a difference in tangible ways, in their daily lives, for themselves and their school communities.
  • To provide students the opportunity to to incorporate not only recycling, but the other highly important "Rs", including reducing, reusing, repurposing, repairing, rethinking, refusing, etc.
  • To enjoy potential cost savings, including through the reduction of waste in classrooms and single-use items in school cafeterias.
