The Way of the Waste Warrior

Picture

Why do we need to monitor waste stations?

Sometimes it can get confusing.... There are so many kinds of disposable containers, packaging, cups, compostables.  And then the food waste...!  What goes into each bin based on the multitude of possible materials that can be available at a single event, can be overwhelming in itself.  Then throw this in amidst the fun, sounds, crowds of people, and variety of happenings at an event and you've got yourself a can of worms!

Monitoring stations helps attendees at ANY type of event (small or large) have a friendly helper to point them in the right direction.

The trainings we offer will build a caring crew of knowledgeable volunteers to assist event attendees with where to put their items.

If you're an enthusiast of reducing waste, this is the training for you!

Waste Warrior Trainings

Want to be a part of ending waste where it happens?  Come learn about the in's and out's of recycling and composting at events.

You will learn:
  • the general requirements for recycling at events
  • what materials can (and cannot) be recycled (and/or composted)
  • positive ways to help attendees and vendors get discarded materials into the correct collection bin
  • where collected materials belong and how they need to be treated
And be provided with:
  • a pocket quick guide to use as quick reference
  • access to event, or other perks (such as meal ticket or t-shirt)

The Waste Warrior program has been put on hold due to the pandemic, but we are looking to re-launch the program soon. If you have any questions or would like to be notified when the program is available, please send an email to comments@cvswmd.org.
